Yet while it’s only a short trip to the city by train or the Eastern Freeway, Blackburn’s gracious Victorian houses, simple post-war weatherboards and optimistic brick veneers happily ignore the frenzy of the twenty-first century.
And National Trust listings on Linum and Jeffrey Streets mean things aren’t about to speed up.
We think of Blackburn as our secret oasis. It’s a pity we have to tell anyone about it. But, then again, that is our business.
